Vojens District Heating prepares the establishment of a large-scale thermal solar installation

The citizens in the Danish town Vojens will soon get their hot water based on 100% environmentally friendly energy.

In January 2010 the board decided to establish a solar heating system covering about 17% of the annual energy production.

With a size of 17.500 m2 the solar heating system from Sunmark will produce approx. 10,000 MWh heat and requires approx. 5 acres of land plus a building for pumps, controls, machine for absorption chilling (heat pump) and a storage tank of 3,000 m3.

The solar heating system in Vojens will save about. 3000-3500 tonnes of CO2 per year, equivalent to each of the 2,000 connected consumers will reduce CO2 emissions by 1.5-2 tons annually.
