Rise District Heating was established in 2001 and delivers warm water to 115 households, Rise school and Rise nursing home. The plant is supplied by 100% sustainable energy, whereof 50% comes from pellets and 50% from the sun.
The collector area is 3.600 m2 which approximates to 3 MW 7-8 month/year the demand is covered solely by the solar heating plant. The energy generated in the 3 summer months is higher than needed. The excess energy is stored in a big isolated water tank, which accumulates the heat for up to 3 months.
The solar heating plant delivers solar energy until November/ December. On an annual basis the plant covers 50% of the heat demand.
