Sønderborg District Heating

A 9.000 m2 solar heating plant shall cover the demand of the district.

Sønderborg aims to be a role model of implementing sustainable energy. That is why the District Heating in Sønderborg decided to install a solar heating plant. The final plant will cover about 9.000 m2 and will meet 50% of the district heating requirements of the local area.
The plant will be equipped with a heat station. However, the station will only be used if the solar heating installation cannot produce enough energy.

The goal is to make Sønderborg entirely CO2 neutral by 2030. The driving force within this process is called “ProjectZero” which consists of nine principal initiatives to ensure that climate problems are being addressed in time.
