Tørring CHP

A solar heating installation of 7.284 m2 for Combined Heat and Power.

The 7.284 m2 large solar installation consists of 525 panels with a dimension of approx. 14 m2 each and delivers warm water to the Danish town called Tørring.

One of the reasons why the combined heat and power generation plant in Tørring has chosen to invest in solar energy is the increasing gas price. The price increased with about 65 % last year.

One of the main activities of the Danish combined heat and power generation plant is the production of heat.  Another important revenue is the sale of electricity. Since the price of electricity typically is low during the summer it rarely can pay turning on the gas engines for the power generation. As the need for hot water still has to be covered, a solar plant is an ideal solution, because it contributes most during the summer. Due to this both the generator and boiler can be spared. Beyond the economic benefits of a solar system the environment will benefits from it too. The thermal solar plant produces heat which is equitable with 10 % of the annual heat production. In the summer months the installation will contribute with even 70-80 %, hence the outlet of emission will be reduced.
